supervision for social workers

we all need support to grow

Congratulations, you’ve survived grad school!

Now you’re figuring out everything else, including choosing a supervisor to walk alongside you as you gain clinical experience towards independent licensure. Exciting! And daunting!

I believe that social workers change lives. And I know that doing so is hard work. Holding space for others necessitates that we have spaces for ourselves to learn, make mistakes, and grow.

As a LCSW licensure supervisor, I work to create an environment where supervisees get to show up as themselves, as both humans and professionals, learning how to balance the two.

In working together with supervisees in various settings I offer:

  • Support Beyond Supervision Hours: Feeling uncertain about how that session just went and need to talk through it before we meet that week? Have a client in crisis and need support? Had a breakthrough with your 3pm and want to celebrate with someone who gets it? Call me! Just because my office isn’t down the hall from you doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve support beyond the hour we meet each week. I work hard to be available to my supervisees (and former supervisees!) to support them as needed.

  • A Pay-What-You-Can Model: I was lucky enough to have my supervision covered and I recognize that many clinicians aren’t as fortunate, so it’s important to me to provide financially accessible supervision. Required hours shouldn’t wreck your budget!

  • Person-Centered Supervision: You have the knowledge, passion, and heart to do this work and my role is helping to guide you in it, not tell you how to do it my way or the “right way.”

  • Focus on Burnout Prevention: This is difficult work and we’ve lost too many therapists from the field due to burnout. In supervision together, we are mindful of this and work to stay aware and ahead of burnout, while also recognizing that burnout is not a personal failing, but a professional, organizational, and systemic problem.
