Therapy for Anxiety
you feel helpless in the face of your anxiety
Anxiety is the not so silent companion that’s been with you for so long. Your thoughts run a mile a minute and all of them start with “what if…?.” You've lost sleep, missed out on chances you were too afraid to take, and you’re scared that life will always be like this.
You’ve discovered some ways to quiet the anxiety for a moment before it comes roaring back, louder than before. You’re an expert on living with anxiety, but now you’re ready to reimagine what your life can look like.
Our work together will help you learn how to turn down the volume on your anxiety and step more fully into your life. Anxiety doesn’t have to stop you in your tracks or dictate your life, together we’ll help you learn to notice your anxiety like you notice the weather outside, something to take into consideration given the conditions, but something that doesn’t ultimately run your life.
working with, rather than against anxiety
At this point, you know that anxious voice in your head is irrational, and yet, no amount of reasoning or challenging seems to shake it.
Most types of therapy focus on identifying and changing anxious or distorted thoughts—this approach can be helpful for many—but for others it can seem to make anxiety worse. You become hyper aware of your anxious thoughts and start to become anxious about being anxious.
Instead of dissecting and analyzing your anxious feelings, my approach is focused on listening and learning from your anxiety; working with your anxiety to create a bigger, fuller, more meaningful life, rather than trying to shove anxiety down and hope it goes away. Anxiety is part of life and together we’ll help ensure that it doesn’t stand in the way of the life you want to lead.
living boldly, dreaming big
The life you want is out there waiting for you.
Anxiety’s kept you settling, putting your life and dreams on pause, but you’re yearning for more.
What would you do if anxiety or fear wasn’t standing in the way?
Who would you be?
What could you accomplish?
What risks would you be willing to take?
Life can be as big and bold and colorful as you allow it to be. What life do you want for yourself? As poet Mary Oliver famously asked, “what is it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
Together we can face anxiety and help you build a bold and bright life!
